Description Learning outcomesThe course aims to provide basic understanding of the institutional structure and key legal rules of the international trade regime under the World Trade Organization (WTO). The course serves as general introduction to WTO law with an emphasis on legal issues arising from the reconciliation of trade and environmental interests under the WTO.ContentInternational trade law has evolved into one of the key areas of public international law. This course provides an overview of the evolution and objectives of the international legal regime for trade liberalization. It considers the institutional structure and functions of the WTO and its Dispute Settlement System. The course studies basic concepts and issues of WTO law, including in light of key WTO judicial practice. The substantive emphasis is on WTO rules and cases relating to environmental protection, climate change as well as trade in natural resources and clean technologies, including renewable energy technologies.Modes of studyThe course consists of 12 hours of compulsory lectures and home exam.
