Hi and welcome to the BMW fault codes (hex code) page. This page contains BMW hex fault codes, and the fault code definitions! We hope you find this page useful, we recommend using your browsers find on page feature to search the page for your BMW fault code. Press Ctrl + f on windows, Cmd + f on Mac, and use the menu button on mobile. If you like what you see why not share this page with other BMW owners!!

Someone should please help interpret these history of scan codes that has ever shown up in my E60. I need layman and detailed interpretation of each.1. 281D - DTC status: current - bsd generator: signal.2. CDA4 - (Status, ARS Module, OX1AC) faulty, receiver DME, transmitter ARS.3. 281C - DME: Bit serial data interface (BSD): Signal.4.

29B8 - DME: Exhaust camshaft: Mechanical.6. 27A0 - DME: Electronics boxfan: Activation.7. 2715 - DME: Oxygen sensor heater before Cat conv bank 2: Activation.8. 2717 - DME: Oxygen sensor heater after Cat conv bank 2: Activation.9. DME: Exhaust camshaft: stiffThese are the error codes I've gotten over time, I need interpretation so as know where to start fix. 281D - DTC status: current - bsd generator: signal.3. 281C - DME: Bit serial data interface (BSD): Signal. These two are related - the generator (alternator) talks to the engine computer (DME) through a single-wire connection Bit serial data interface (BSD).

BSD also connects to a sensor on a battery terminal (IBS Intelligent Battery Sensor) and your oil level sensor. So if you aren't getting error messages related to other BSD devices, it's probably the alternator having a problem. With no communication, the smart alternator will set its output to a fixed voltage, instead of obeying the DME's commanded voltage.2. CDA4 - (Status, ARS Module, 0x1AC) faulty, receiver DME, transmitter ARS.ARS (active roll stabilizing) is telling the engine computer it's faulty.search this post, gives a similar translation:CDA4 message (status ARSactive roll stabilizing module, 1AC)4.

3d33translates the code to Torque Request via CAN. (CAN is another in-car data network). Different computer modules can request the engine computer to reduce engine torque output, for example traction control. His screenshot also indicates it might appear as a P1771 code to a regular OBDII reader. That also translates as P1771 CAN Torque Interface Plausibility.
